Mouse | EPHA2 | 1969 | EPH receptor A2 | In an orthotopic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma model in mice, suppression of EphA signaling by i.p. administration of EphA2/Fc (30 micro g/dose, three times a week for 56 days) profoundly inhibited the growth of primary tumors and the development of peritoneal, lymphatic, and hepatic metastases. | Human | REG4 | 83998 | regenerating islet-derived family, member 4 | Reg IV expression was also detected in 5 (21.7%) of 23 ductal adenocarcinomas of the pancreas. Reg IV expression was also detected in 5 (21.7%) of 23 ductal adenocarcinomas of the pancreas. | Human | PRSS27 | 83886 | protease, serine 27 | In marked contrast to prostasin, which is 43% identical in the catalytic domain, human pancreasin is transcribed strongly in pancreas (and in the pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma line, HPAC) but weakly or not at all in kidney and prostate. | Human | S100PBP | 64766 | S100P binding protein | can be added to the genetic progression model for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma S100P is a sensitive and specific marker for the detection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma on FNAB specimens on cell-block and smear preparations | Human | MUC3B | 57876 | mucin 3B, cell surface associated | AIM: To examine the pattern of expression of membrane-associated mucins, MUC3 and MUC4, and a mucin-associated carbohydrate tumor antigen, sialyl Le(x), in these precursor lesions and ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. | Human | WHSC1L1 | 54904 | Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome candidate 1-like 1 | Integrated DNA-RNA analyses identified WHSC1L1 and TPX2 as two candidates likely targeted for amplification in both pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and non-small-cell lung cancer. | Human | FXYD5 | 53827 | FXYD domain containing ion transport regulator 5 | The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of dysadherin expression and the relationship between dysadherin expression and E-cadherin expression in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We examined dysadherin and E-cadherin expression in 125 surgically resected pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patients using immunohistochemistry. Dysadherin overexpression in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reflects tumor aggressiveness: relationship to e-cadherin expression. CONCLUSION: In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, dysadherin expression seems to reflect tumor aggressiveness and to be a positive marker of poor prognosis when considered both alone and in combination with downregulation of E-cadherin. | Human | CADM1 | 23705 | cell adhesion molecule 1 | Aberrant methylation of the 5; CpG island of TSLC1 is common in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and is first manifest in high-grade PanlNs. | Human | CLCA4 | 22802 | chloride channel accessory 4 | Here, we report that HPAF, a human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cell line that expresses CaCC, develops into a high-resistance, anion-secreting epithelium. | Human | PARK7 | 11315 | parkinson protein 7 | MMP-9, DJ-1 and A1BG proteins are overexpressed in pancreatic juice from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma | Human | PSIP1 | 11168 | PC4 and SFRS1 interacting protein 1 | EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: The expression of nerve growth factor, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, NT-3, and NT-4/5, and the receptors tropomyosin receptor kinase A, B, and C, and P75 was studied in pancreatic cancer cell lines, and normal and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) tissue samples by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR. | Human | COPS5 | 10987 | COP9 signalosome subunit 5 | In this study, we investigated the expression of p27Kip1 and Jab1 in 61 cases with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. | Human | NDRG1 | 10397 | N-myc downstream regulated 1 | Analysis of specimens from 65 patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma showed a significant association between Cap43 expression and tumor microvascular density, depth of invasion, and histopathologic grading | Human | MSLN | 10232 | mesothelin | Expression of PSCA and mesothelin was observed in pancreatic nonductal neoplasms but their expression was seen less frequently (0-50%) and weaker than that in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (60-100%). The strong mesothelin expression in the large majority of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (12 of 14), but not in normal pancreas, confirms that this marker may have some diagnostic utility in discriminating between neoplastic and nonneoplastic pancreatic ductal epithelium. Mesothelin is overexpressed in the vast majority of ductal adenocarcinomas of the pancreas: identification of a new pancreatic cancer marker by serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE). | Human | CLCA2 | 9635 | chloride channel accessory 2 | Here, we report that HPAF, a human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cell line that expresses CaCC, develops into a high-resistance, anion-secreting epithelium. | Human | GDF15 | 9518 | growth differentiation factor 15 | Serum MIC-1 levels were significantly higher in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (mean +/- SD, 2428 +/- 2324 pg/ml) and in patients with ampullary and cholangiocellular carcinomas (2123 +/- 2387 pg/ml) than in those with benign pancreatic neoplasms (940 +/- 469 pg/ml), chronic pancreatitis (1364 +/- 1236 pg/ml), or in healthy controls (546 +/- 262 pg/ml). | Human | TJP2 | 9414 | tight junction protein 2 | We have observed that 2 forms of zonula occludens 2 (ZO-2) protein, ZO-2A and ZO-2C, are expressed in normal human pancreatic duct cells, but only ZO-2C in pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma. | Human | EBAG9 | 9166 | estrogen receptor binding site associated, antigen, 9 | On the other hand, the sensitivity of RCAS1 for ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas was 80% and the specificity was 96.2% compared with chronic pancreatitis. High expression of tumor-associated antigen RCAS1 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is an unfavorable prognostic marker RESULTS: Immunohistochemically, RCAS1 detection occurred in 100% (20/20) of ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas cases, 100% (6/6) of intraductal papillary-mucinous adenoma of the pancreas cases, and 40% (2/5) of chronic pancreatitis cases. CONCLUSIONS: RCAS1 was highly expressed in ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, and serum RCAS1 concentrations in patients with ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas were significantly higher than those in patients with other inflammatory pancreatic diseases. Serum RCAS1 concentrations in patients with ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas were significantly higher than those in patients with chronic pancreatitis (p < 0.0001), acute pancreatitis (p < 0.005), and autoimmune pancreatitis (p < 0.001). High expression of tumor-associated antigen RCAS1 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is an unfavorable prognostic marker. Positive serum RCAS1 samples (concentration, > or = 10 U/mL) were found most often in cases of pancreatic neoplasm (80% [16/20], ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas; and 60% [3/5], intraductal papillary-mucinous adenoma of the pancreas). | Human | CLDN1 | 9076 | claudin 1 | The expression of claudin-4 was investigated in human pancreas, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas, and intraductal papillary-mucinous tumors of the pancreas (IPMT), and compared with that of claudin-1. Of 12 cases of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, 11 (92%) had positive immunostaining for claudin-4, and seven (58%) for claudin-1. | Human | SKAP2 | 8935 | src kinase associated phosphoprotein 2 | Overexpression of SKAP2 is associated with the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma | Human | NRP2 | 8828 | neuropilin 2 | Reduction of NRP-2 expression in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells decreased survival signaling, migration, invasion, and ability to grow under anchorage-independent conditions | Human | ADAM9 | 8754 | ADAM metallopeptidase domain 9 | Gene expression profiling revealed ADAM9 to be distinctly overexpressed in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas showing cytoplasmic ADAM9 expression correlated with poor tumour differentiation and also with shorter overall survival than in cases showing only an apical membranous staining pattern (P=0.001). | Human | TNFSF10 | 8743 | tumor necrosis factor (ligand) superfamily, member 10 | TRAIL strongly induces the expression of the proinflammatory cytokines interleukin-8 and monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 and enhances the invasion of apoptosis-resistant pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells in vitro | Human | TFPI2 | 7980 | tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2 | We thus conclude that epigenetic inactivation of TFPI-2 is a common mechanism that contributes to the aggressive phenotype of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.Oncogene (2005) 24, 850-858. doi:10.1038/sj.onc.1208050 Published online 13 December 2004. Epigenetic inactivation of TFPI-2 as a common mechanism associated with growth and invasion of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. | Human | VHL | 7428 | von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor, E3 ubiquitin protein ligase | S100P and pVHL are a pair of sensitive and specific markers for identifying primary pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia |
